Why do I need location permissions?
Location permissions are a necessary permission needed when using the Employee app to clock for your shifts. These permissions are used to determine if you and your device are within your workplace's boundary so that you can start your shift.
There are 2 places on your device you will need to check and enable, these are:
- That Location settings have been turned on on your phone
- You have allowed location permissions for the Employee App
For further information about clocking from your phone, refer to our guide here.
Allowing location permissions
After downloading and logging in to your App for the first time, you will be prompted by the app to allow Location permissions for the Employee App when it is in use. We strongly suggest that all users allow this permission.
If your employer allows you to clock for your shifts using your mobile device, you may also be prompted with a second confirmation to enable location permissions when starting your shifts for the first time.
When this occurs, you will need to confirm permissions both times you are prompted. Otherwise, the app won't have the necessary permissions enabled, and you won't be able to start your shifts.
Location errors
When starting a shift from the Employee App, you may be presented with the following location errors:
- Unable to find your location - This occurs because you have location settings disabled on your phone.
- Allow Location Access - This occurs when you have not enabled location permissions for the Employee App.
To resolve these errors, we suggest checking your device's location settings and app permissions.
