Before proceeding, if your business uses QR clocking, please take a look at our guide here. Alternatively, if your business uses the Employee App for clocking, please refer to this guide instead.
Preparations for Clock App clocking
Before you clock in on the iPad, you will need to know 2 things.
- Your Employee ID number
- Your Clock Passcode
Starting your shift
When you're all set and ready to start your shift, you can do it using the Clock App on the iPad.
You can start your shift at the rostered time, or if you're requested to come in earlier or for an unrostered shift. When this happens, you will need to add a comment explaining why you're working outside of your rostered shift times.
To Start Shift:
- Enter your Employee ID and select the 'Tick' button.
-
Then enter your Passcode and select the 'Tick' button.
- If you have a rostered shift, this will appear on the page. Press the 'Start shift' button to start your shift.
- Photo capture may be required if your business has selected this option. If so, ensure your face fills the frame and smile.
- If you are clocking in early or late for your shift, you may need to enter a reason. Please provide as much detail as possible in the box provided, as any comments provided will be reported through to your manager.
-
From this screen, you will also see any rostered paid and unpaid breaks.
-
If you haven't been rostered (i.e. you were called in), you will not see any rostered hours when starting your shift. You may need to select the relevant roster from the drop-down box and provide your manager with a comment explaining the reason for starting an unrostered shift.
Providing information to your manager
When you start or end your shifts, you may be asked to provide additional information to your manager. These fields are mandatory and can happen for a few different reasons, including:
- When clocking in/ out early or late to your shift.
- Starting an unrostered shift (if you are called in).
- Answering questions set by your manager.
- Provide reasons when you haven't clocked for a break.
Taking your breaks
You can clock both paid and unpaid breaks, including those that have been rostered or for any unrostered breaks when necessary.
If you work split shifts on the same day, it is important that you check your upcoming shifts, so you know when to:
- Start or end a break
- End your first shift and start your second shift
To clock for a break:
-
You can clock in and out for breaks if required by logging back into the iPad and selecting 'Start break'.
-
If your managers have rostered your break times, you will be prompted to select which rostered break you would like to take.
-
If you do not have any breaks rostered, you will be prompted to select either a Paid break or an Unpaid break.
-
- Once you have started your break, you will notice a timer at the top of the screen:
- If your break times have been rostered - The timer will countdown until your break is complete.
- If you are on an unrostered break - The timer will display the amount of time you have taken.
-
To end your break, select End break.
Ending your shift
Ending a shift is done when you are looking to complete a shift; once done, no further breaks or comments can be added for this shift.
To End Shift:
- To clock out of your shift, log back into the iPad and select 'End shift'.
- Photo capture may be required if your business has selected this option. Smile!
