Preparations for Clock App clocking
Before you clock in on the iPad, you will need 2 things.
- Your Employee ID number.
- Your QR code. It can be either a printout or an image on your phone.
Starting your shift
When you're all set and ready to start your shift, you can do it using the Clock App on the iPad.
You can start your shift at the rostered time, or if you're requested to come in earlier or for an unrostered shift. When this happens, you will need to add a comment explaining why you're working outside of your rostered shift times.
To Start Shift:
- Have your QR code ready and scan it against the iPad camera; you will see the camera on the lower half of the iPad.
- Once scanned, the Clock App will count down from 3. From here, you will either be:
- Automatically clocked in.
- If auto-clock-in is not enabled, select 'Start Shift'.
- When clocking in, you may be asked to provide additional information when clocking in such as:
- Clocking reason - If you are clocking early or late for your shift, you may need to enter a reason. Please provide as much detail as possible in the box provided.
- Roster - If you haven't been rostered (i.e. you were called in), you may need to select the relevant roster from the drop-down box before clocking in.
- Photo - May be required if your business has selected this option.
- Questionnaire - Answer any questions set by your manager before starting your shift.
Taking your breaks
You can clock both paid and unpaid breaks, including those that have been rostered or for any unrostered breaks when necessary.
If you work split shifts on the same day, it is important that you check your upcoming shifts, so you know when to:
- Start or end a break
- End your first shift and start your second shift
To clock for a break:
- Scan your QR code to clock in for breaks if required. You will see the details of your shift, including:
- Shift start
- End time
- Remaining time of shift
- Break details
- Select 'Start break'. If you have multiple breaks, you will need to select the relevant break you are taking.
- Once you are ready to end your break, scan your QR code and select 'End break'.
For more information on clocking your breaks, please refer to our 'Clocking from the Clock App (iPad clocking)' guide here.
Ending your shift
Ending a shift is done when you are looking to complete a shift; once done, no further breaks or comments can be added for this shift.
To End Shift:
- To clock out of your shift, scan your QR code and select 'End shift'.
- Photo capture may be required if your business has selected this option.
- If you are clocking out early or late for your shift, you may need to enter a reason. Please provide as much detail as possible in the box provided.
