Cancelling your upcoming shifts
Some businesses that use foundU may choose an optional feature allowing employees to cancel shifts from their app within a designated chosen timeframe. Keep in mind that your company may not utilise this feature.
Using your app to cancel a shift is a convenient way for managing your roster for the following situations:
- You're rostered for a shift that conflicts with your stated availability
- You have already received approval for leave on that particular day
- You are unable to attend your shift, and you provide sufficient notice beforehand
This provides you with the flexibility to communicate with your employer and keep your schedule up to date, ensuring you are always aware of your shifts and can plan accordingly.
Understanding cancel shifts
In the same way you view your upcoming roster, you will optionally be able to cancel your shift if you are not able to do it.
Before cancelling your shifts, there are a few things you will need to be aware of prior to using this feature:
- Only some businesses use it - If you don't see the Cancel shift button, you won't be able to use this feature.
-
Your business will have specified a notice period - Think about the notice you need to provide, if you don't give enough notice, you will not be able to cancel your shifts.
For example, if your employer has an 8-hour notice period and your shift starts at 3 pm, you'll be unable to cancel your shift anytime after 7 am on that day (8 hours before the shift is rostered to start). -
Think about the consequences of frequently cancelling your shifts - Consider the message you are sending to your employer when you frequently cancel your shifts. To send the correct message, ensure your availability is up to date and keep an eye out for any shift offers that are sent.
To cancel a shift:
-
From your home page, navigate down to the Upcoming Roster section.

-
To cancel the shift, navigate to the ellipsis (⋮) and select Cancel shift.
Contact: If you cannot see the ellipsis, then either of the following has occurred:
